Synthetic biology involves the design, creation, or engineering of organisms and biological systems. The Tufts Synthetic Biology team leverages this discipline in a highly interdisciplinary way, applying synthetic biology to develop new research tools, diagnostics, and therapeutics. Tufts Synthetic Biology pushes its members to address problems that occur at a global level, and to examine the ethical importance and implications of their work. The research group is a small team of roughly 25 students coming from a broad range of disciplines, working together towards ambitious and impressive ends. Advisors from across the University give support to the team, helping to secure success.
